Certification of EPIs (Personal Protective Equipment)

In the course of their work, workers are exposed to certain risks that may pose a threat to their safety or health. PPE (personal protective equipment) is the equipment, complements or accessories worn or held by the worker and which protects them from these risks.

Notified body

The laboratory of our parent company Apave in Fontaine specialises in the certification of fall protection PPE, helmets and respiratory protection equipment, for which it provides CE marking thanks to its accreditation as Notified Body no. 0082 by COFRAC.

 

Specifically, we offer the following services:

 

  • EU/UKCA type examination
  • Inspection of manufactured PPE 
  • Design phase testing 
  • Inspection of the manufacturing process
  • Storage inspection.

Respiratory protective
equipment

Certified PPE: filtering devices, respirators, semi-filtering masks, full face masks, particulate filters, powered filtering devices, compressed air supplied respirators, etc.

 

The Apave solution: French Notified Body for CE marking of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE), with more than 10 years of experience in France, Europe and internationally.

 

Main tests carried out: Inward leakage, Solid and liquid particle filtration tests, Breathing resistance - CO2 content of inhaled air, Practical performance tests, Flame envelopment, etc.

PPE for
head protection

Certified PPE: Industrial safety helmets, Industrial caps, Electrical insulation helmets for low voltage installations, Helmets for mountaineers.

 

The Apave solution:

  • French notified body for CE marking of helmets since 2009 for our international customers.
  • UIAA-approved laboratory for mountaineering equipment.

 

 

Main tests carried out: Shock absorption and penetration tests, Efficiency/resistance of the retention system, Flame resistance tests, Lateral deformation, UV chamber (artificial ageing).

PPE against
falls from height

Certified PPE: For work, For mountaineering and climbing, For leisure crafts, Harnesses, fall arrest systems, work positioning systems, dynamic ropes, connectors, lanyards, semi-static ropes, anchoring devices, crampons, pitons, ice axes, safety lines, etc.

Certified PPE: Tests on equipment not covered by CE certification: lifelines, anchorage devices, handrails, etc. France, Europe and internationally, UIAA-approved laboratory for mountaineering equipment.

 

Main tests carried out: Fall tests, Mechanical tests, Climatic and salinity tests.

PPE for
eye and face protection

Certified PPE: Personal Eye and Face Protection

 

The Apave solution:

  • French Notified Body for CE marking of eye and face personal protective equipment since 2018 for international customers.
  • Eye and face protection for professional use (EN ISO 16321-1)

 

Main tests carried out: Resistance to UV radiation, Resistance to corrosion, Penetration of vents and interstices, Resistance to high velocity impacts, Impact level, Impact resistance.
