Sustainability certification

In a society that is increasingly aware of the need to take actions to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in buildings, there are measures, such as sustainability certifications aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which are an essential tool for those organisations that want to contribute to the conservation of the environment and the well-being of the users of their buildings.

We accompany you throughout the design and construction process to obtain sustainability certification for your building.

The sustainability certification of a building brings multiple benefits, such as lower energy consumption and maintenance costs, reduction of the carbon footprint, improvement of the health and well-being of users, etc., which contribute to the revaluation of the building and consolidate its commitment to sustainability.

Our consultants are accredited to certify with the main sustainability systems: BREEAM, LEED, WELL, VERDE, Sustainable Building (AENOR), Passive House and other Sustainability Certification systems.

Throughout our more than 15 years of experience, we have carried out more than 100 sustainability certificates, for residential and non-residential buildings, with the aim of minimising energy, water and waste generation consumption and maximising the comfort and well-being of users, thanks to the design of the building, the installations and the use of materials with low environmental impact.

The Eurocontrol team, apart from accompanying the whole certification process, has the capacity to carry out most of the studies and specialised reports necessary to obtain certain requirements, such as:

  • Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
  • Life Cycle Costing (LCC)
  • Thermal comfort analysis
  • Simulation of natural and artificial lighting
  • visual comfort analysis (internal and external lighting)
  • Commissioning of installations (Commissioning)
  • Envelope performance analysis (thermographic or airtightness)
  • Air quality plans and tests
  • Low-carbon or zero-carbon technology studies (EERR)
  • External control of Energy Efficiency Certification
  • Land Use and Ecology Reports
  • Natural Hazards and Flood Risk Reports
  • User Guides (USG)
  • Training plans
  • Mobility plans
  • Acoustic studies and tests

LEED - Certification of sustainable buildings
LEED certification is the world's most widely used green building rating system and a symbol of sustainability leadership. It provides a framework for healthy, efficient and cost-effective green buildings and has become an internationally recognised standard for assessing and promoting buildings and retrofits that meet high standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

Available for all building types, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) was developed in 1993 in the United States by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council).

WELL - Building Sustainability Certification
WELL certification is the first building assessment tool focused on the well-being and health of its occupants. Based on performance rather than prescription, it prioritises user comfort and analyses the relationship between health and the built environment in which we live and work.

WELL certification was developed in the United States by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in 2013. It has subsequently evolved into what is now known as WELL v2, which was launched in 2020.
